A few weeks ago, I had my first actual stint as a bona fide bridesmaid. Yeah, bridesmaid, as in the walking human that
I know, the wedding was 2 weeks ago. Normally I would have let it slide into oblivion, but I uh...promised someone I would blog about it, with pics to boot.
(Sigh, I just HAD to promise a pic-post)
Now, Ryn a.k.a The Bibah laughed her a** off when I told her I was going to be a bridesmaid. (-_-")
Celaka, I told her over MSN, and even then her booming laughter rocked my office like a bloody earthquake.
(What? None of you felt the ground move? Ish. Sial.) Which makes me wonder, is it so weird that someone asked me to be the bridesmaid? Humph.
Well, what happened was my ex-colleague Leanne was getting married, and she and I were pretty tight during our time working together. So, so, SO...when an 'emergency' occurred and help was needed from the hobbit, how could I refuse hmm?
See, Ryn, I'm not 110% evil all the time, I'm just evil to to you 24/7. Bwahaha!
Anyway, in case some of you lost lambs out there are still delightfully ignorant about females and weddings, most females go into absolute raptures at the very mention of weddings.
They swoon. They hyperventilate. Whatever. You see, weddings are romantic, and let's face it, all women are romantics deep within them.
More importantly though, is that weddings are also the best excuse to go shopping for a new dress, wahaha! Of course, we would then need shoes to match, and then a bag to complement the dress and the shoes, and oh, let's not forget the bling blings accessories. The works you know? (^_~)v
(Yes, guys, you can roll your eyes and mutter "Women!" in that exasperated tone of yours now.)
Now Leanne, or Leanne Babes as I sometimes like to refer her as, is a gorgeous mix of Malaysian-Thai Chinese. Though usually she gets asked if she's Korean or Japanese more often than not. Lol.
In case you're not familiar with Malaysian Chinese weddings, the groom will come and 接新娘, where he comes to claim his bride.
Aha! Ladies, take note. This is the fun part, where us females, the supposedly weaker sex, glorify in our SM fetishes dominatrix power by conjuring all sorts of pranks to inflict on the bridegroom and his male entourage band of brothers.
First hurdle for the groom? Lol...to convince Leanne's younger bro to unlock the door of the bridal car with a nice ang pow!
...such as gleefully having the men split 500 push ups between them...
*evil cackle*
Once through the main door, poor Ben had to maneuver through the stairs with another round of negotiation...
.....up, up, up the stairs they went, as we backed up step-by-step...
...until finally, success! \(^_^)/
After the customary Tea Ceremony, we then headed over to Ben's house for the second round of Tea Ceremony with Ben's family.
Snappy moment with Ben & Leanne...
Being Christians, asides from the Chinese wedding ceremony in the morning, there was to be a holy matrimony service in the afternoon before the wedding banquet too.
Personally, I think the staff at Sheraton Subang are pure geniuses to convert the outside of the grand ballroom into such a gorgeous venue for the holy matrimony. What's more, I just loved the fact that all the flowers used were real flowers. None of those tacky plastic flowers, mind you.
The grand ballroom was equally fantastic, with beautiful flower arches at every table...
...with a tealight candle secreted within the flowers!
Here's the bridal entourage - bride, bridesmaid and flower girls having a quick snap before the holy matrimony.

I think in the future if and when I get married, I must hunt down equally cute flower girls.
But they MUST be over the age of 5.
Just so that my bridesmaid would never have to turn into a nursemaid in a blink of an eye.
Initially Leanne planned to toss the bridal bouquet but in the midst of the showering rose petals, we missed out on the perfect moment. Oh well.
Pink roses are so sweet. Ok, roses are sweet. Period.
The special red rose corsage Leanne ordered for me... (^_^)v
Call me anal, but I have a particular fetish for wedding favours. Harks back to a time when Mumsie would come home from some wedding and I'll get some treat to savour over, I guess. Hehe.
Most hotels in Malaysia would offer chocolate, fruit cakes or chocolate cakes encased in a petite, fancy box for guests to take home.
Surprisingly, being a bridesmaid is rather tiring.
I was at Leanne's home by 8am and had no break in between except for 1 1/2 hours to go home, shower and rush to the hotel. I can imagine how much more exhausting it would have been for Leanne. *salute*
But all in all, as tiring as it was, I thought it was an eminently sweet and lovely wedding.
[Pause]
Even if I was falling asleep by the time 9pm rolled by.
Lol. (^_~)

Zewt: Aha! Pics are deceiving, and I'm very realistic about myself. Haha! Let's just say I consider it a nice compliment that I was nominated, but I really don't belong on it eh? Lol.
Christien: (^_~)v. Thank you! Haha! But Leanne (the bride) is definitely more gorgeous. Seriously. Btw, I found your blog quite an interesting read! Will definitely be checking back at your blog. Woots!
Cavin: Wahaha! Shocked yeah? I thumped down the aisle pretty effectively. No one screamed nor ran away. Kekeke...lunch? Next week lah dude, when that new Jap restaurant is open! Yum!
I never understood that dumb tradition of making the guys do dumb stuff before they open the door.
Vince: *smirks*. You don't have to understand it dude. You just have to subject yourself to it without any questions, moans and whines. 10 years down the road, this tradition will STILL remain. Resistance is futile, my friend. Muahahaha!
